We are living in a time in a world that needs healing. Mind, body and spirit. The mind of the world is humanity. The body of the world is planet earth. The spirit of the world is humanity and Creation Energy together. The entire body of being is showing signs of wear and tear. Where and how does the healing come!?!?!
I am led to this reading about one of our Master Teachers:
Now on his way to Jerusalem, Jesus traveled along the border between Samaria and Galilee. As he was going into a village, ten men who had leprosymet him. They stood at a distance and called out in a loud voice, “Jesus, Master, have pity on us!”
When he saw them, he said, “Go, show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were cleansed.
One of them, when he saw he was healed, came back, praising God in a loud voice. He threw himself at Jesus’ feet and thanked him—and he was a Samaritan.
Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise the energy that enabled the healings except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”
The story tells us, “… as they went, they were made clean.” That translates… they were healed by their belief in the person doing the healing. Suddenly….and without effort, no more leprosy. Clean!
In those days lepers are regarded as unclean by the Jewish ritual laws, and they were relegated to the outskirt of the towns.
The law of that time mandated that they announced their uncleanness to the world. The reason being that it was thought that the leprosy could be “caught” by even looking at someone with the disease.
During that time it was law that “The person who has the leprous disease shall wear torn clothes and let the hair of his head be disheveled; and he shall cover his upper lip and cry out, “Unclean, unclean.”
One of the ways the world has always managed to keep people marginalized and “in their place” is to have them acknowledge their own condition.
One of the ways we keep ourselves marginalized and from evolving is to believe what we are told to believe about ourselves or about our world by outside influences. By doing this…or not, we create our belief system for our journey through life. “You are who you are because you tell yourself, or believe what others have said, that you are that way….”
Our belief system can be one of our most powerful assets or our worst enemy. Our belief system essentially makes up who we are and what we are. Our belief system is made up of a set of core values, which we tend to base everything we do, say, or believe in.
It is what we believe, from whatever source we get this information from, that becomes our health, our wellbeing…or our dis—ease in our life.
During our journey through life, we, WE create a set of beliefs, which define us. Now, it doesn’t matter if that information is true or not….what matters is… what we believe.
As part of any healing process, we must continually evaluate our beliefs….continually “check” our truth.
Back to this morning’s reading………… How did the lepers know that Jesus was someone who has the power to heal them?
The story goes, “When Jesus saw them, he said to them, “Go and show yourselves to the priests.” And as they went, they were made clean.” All ten of them went to the priest. That tells us that they all had faith in Jesus and his works. They didn’t wait for Jesus’ touch, but they believed that his word or just being in his energy is enough to bring healing.
For those who have this knowing, the God energy, the Creator Energy, this is enough. For those who don’t have this knowing, this belief, it won’t make any difference even if they see someone raise from the dead.
God energy, which we are equipped with, combined with our faith— may it be as small as a mustard seed —is already enough for transformations and so called miracles. … “through God Energy all things are possible”. And those possibilities you have always had!
August is my 7th year anniversary of surgery, rehabilitation, and learning to accommodate two new body parts. My faith and beliefs during my journey in new knee surgeries and the rehabbing has made me well. My faith was as the lepers in the scripture. I have a true knowing, that is without doubt and without fear that my Christ Consciousness …that is God energy within …. would be the energy that enabled me to take this walk in confidence and experience a rebirth…a renewal.
Our thoughts and then the actions as a result from those thoughts….puts into motion the belief system that enables us the outcome we desire.
I believed I could not live a whole life with the ability to stand, with the ability to walk, in the pain I was in or with taking the opiates…the mind disabling drugs… to help ease the pain. I knew that there was a solution…a healing…. a positive outcome.
I had that knowing from the belief system I CREATED AND I ACCEPTED AS MY TRUTH. I believed in the surgeon and his team…. I saw the positive outcome that others had experienced with the same process…. I accepted that my body would accept the new parts and incorporate them into ME and become one with me and working together, would facilitate keeping me mobile. I knew this, I believed this…. Just as the lepers knew they would be healed!
And…just as the lepers, my belief system was without doubt or fear. This is so important. No doubt…no fear… no over thinking…. no questions … no negative energy… connected to the outcome. I always believed that the healing was possible… with the knee replacement surgery and doing what was required after the surgery.
Now, I want to admit here, there is limitation in my belief system… Just as the lepers always had the ability to heal themselves, they thought they needed the healing medium, Jesus, to activate what was always innately within…. perfect, pure health.
That ability to heal ourselves is within us at every moment and is our birth right. But…in my belief system that I’ve had for most of 72 years is that a doctor is needed to activate what is necessary to bring about my healing. I needed someone outside myself to put in new knees. I needed the Dr. medium to give me the message physically.
I’ve conditioned myself to that belief and it was my reality for my knees. Do you see how I listened and believed the outside influences in this instance? How I made what I heard and read about and studied my reality? I made that agreement with me….
We now have outside influences that can back up and allow us to believe the truth of our power to heal ourselves… and for we humans who cling to our physicality… this may be what some of us need to incorporate that knowing into our belief systems.
Science is now making great strides in brain studies which are providing proof that our thoughts…our beliefs… can indeed affect our brain chemistry and thus our physical and mental health.
We know that negative emotions such as fear and stress not only make our bodies more susceptible to dis-ease, but can actually cause the disease. Conversely, the same biochemical mechanisms that work against us can also be utilized to work for us.
The new biology of this more enlightened time… takes this further.
It is not just the power of suggestion, but the actual thoughts and words chosen by us which changes brain chemistry …. our beliefs change our being on all three levels… mind, body, spirit. Thoughts are things!
We have 50 trillion cells in our body which communicate through neurochemical and vibrational signals. Bruce H. Lipton, PhD, has done a large amount of work in this field, which is called epigenetics.
The word epigenetics literally means “above the genes”, that is, something metaphysical, the mind…not the brain …two very different “things”… the mind and the brain… one is physical, the brain… and the mind is metaphysical …beyond the physical… the mind controls the genes. Dr. Lipton says our minds can re-write our genes. He compares the cell to a computer chip, as each is a bit of information. Both can receive information through different routes and cause a reaction.
Epigenetics changes our paradigm of control. The old physics believed the universe is based on matter. The new biology is based on the idea that the universe is governed by energy. Governed by vibrations…frequencies. Once again, science is proving what the Metaphysician has been saying for decades. Everything is energy.
Even though the programming of the cells {our belief system} begins in infancy or before birth, remember, we have had many lives as assorted beings to impress our cells, these cells can be reprogrammed to act differently.
The process which the information goes through to affect the cell determines the programming of the cell. Cells become diseased because they are instructed… in some way, consciously or unconsciously… If we realize this and change our beliefs, thus changing our messages to our cells, Lipton says we can heal ourselves.
When we realize this and accept it with a true knowing …without any doubt or fear… we become in line with our perfect health. We are meant to be perfect health. It is our birthright.
Back to the story: Jesus asked, “Were not all ten cleansed? Where are the other nine? Has no one returned to give praise to God except this foreigner?” Then he said to him, “Rise and go; your faith has made you well.”
This is another facet of the leper healing metaphor. Jesus was concerned not just for the lepers’ physical illness, but also their spiritual illness.
He sounded annoyed to see that nine out of ten failed to attain wholeness by giving thanks to him which in turn recognizes and gives credit to the God energy within.
He said, “Were not ten made clean? But the other nine, where are they? Was none of them found to return and give thanks to God except this foreigner?”
Even though all of them were physically healed, only this foreigner came and prostrated himself at Jesus feet and thanked him. That’s where the real healing happened, and Jesus said to him, “Get up and go on your way; your faith has made you well.” This word “made well” was translated from the Greek word (sozo) that means to make whole or to deliver, meaning to provide complete wellness…mind and Spirit….along with healing the body. The complete human. Gratitude…thankfulness….
This Samaritan’s thanksgiving heart heals a broken relationship. His prostrating at the feet of Jesus, who is a Jewish rabbi, symbolizes healing of the relationship between two races. The Jews despised Samaritans because they were not purebred. Samaritans dislike the Jews because they claimed that God is only in Jerusalem. They hated each other religiously. Now a grateful heart forgets about the racial/religious boundaries.
Notice two things this Samaritan did, he came back after the healing happened… to praise God and thank Jesus. His gratefulness healed both vertical and horizontal relationships, completing the cross. Completing the wholeness of the human… mind, body, and spirit. That is what the cross symbolizes… complete~ness.
This part of my healing journey is where Spiritual Activism Group, my friends, and my family come in. As well as all the many health providers… of many different races, cultures and religious beliefs…that I’ve encountered on this journey of wholeness.
To become completely healed…the whole human…. gratitude must be acknowledged. If I do not realize and incorporate in my belief system that the energy of others has been used to make me complete…I am not healed. This is where folks linger in their illness or disease.
We did not do it alone. We are part of the whole of humanity and all these parts make up the puzzle. We need all parts of the puzzle to make the picture complete.
The other 9 lepers were healed of their leprosy… but they were not made whole. They did not have gratitude.
This energy of gratitude is not simple words, but, a true belief and knowing that we are part of the body of Creation consciousness… all living beings make up this body. This must be felt within your belief system at the deepest levels. I am grateful…I am grateful… I am grateful.
I mentioned so many of you were part of this faith I carry in my belief system. You are the cause of the gratitude I carry and feel so very deeply. Part of the knowing of healing and recovery I have is because of the energy you give to me so generously. This is the practice of the realization of our Oneness… our truth of fellowship and family… it is the recognition that we help heal each other by our energy exchange… that we are not separate alone entities, but, we are part of what is the whole of humanity.
The awareness of this may not be foremost in your actions.
All this is the expression of love which is the greatest healing energy there is. And it has to be given…. and it has to be accepted before it is activated. And this is God. This is Christ Consciousness. This is Spiritual Activism.
Isn’t the human body a wonderful thing, and we now know that the mind is even more incredible! What mystics knew so long ago, we now know evidentially: the mind has the power to bring mental, emotional and physical healing. The mind and the heart contain God Energy, contain our perfect health… it is always with us. Changing our thought patterns and evolving our belief system to know this with our doubt is not always easy –- in fact, it can be very difficult and take much time and effort….or not.
But we can do this and we are doing it. Right now. As the lepers had evolved a knowing in their belief system… we develop our knowing and solidify our belief system by expressing our truth by each action of consideration we give to the living beings we encounter along our journey. By our belief in the ultimate power of that energy we have within to heal ourselves… we create that energetic outside of our body and it is expressed to others energetically….metaphysically. It becomes part of their belief system…their knowing…. Becomes part of your knowing….
This is multiplied and spreads and is the healing of the planet earth…all living beings will recognize and reconnect to what has always been there… Pure and perfect health on all levels of being… mind, body, and spirit. It is our destiny.
